Fly Fishing Wade Trips
We specialize in introducing beginners to our great sport of waded Fly Fishing in Western North Carolina. Fed by rainfall on North America's oldest mountains, our North Carolina streams may not be large but they are definitely beautiful! These smaller rivers are best accessed on foot by wading the stream bed. Our guided fly fishing wade trips are the best way to have a true mountain stream fly fishing experience. Beginning anglers will enjoy the easier fly casting requirements of stream fly fishing while enjoying beautiful scenery. More advanced anglers will appreciate the solitude and the challenge of approaching fish in tighter quarters requiring both stealth and accurate casting.
Meet your Guide
Dick Poore, a retired military officer with multiple combat tours, has been fishing his entire life. His 34-year active duty military career took him all over the United States, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and, more recently, Patagonia. In North America, he has fished from Maine to Florida, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Illinois, and as far West as Montana. Dick is also a graduate of the Sweetwater Basic and Advanced Fly Fishing Guide school in Livingston, Montana. He has fished Montana's Big Horn, The Yellowstone, Still Water, Boulder, and Spring Creeks in Paradise Valley. In his beloved North Carolina, he regularly fishes Helton and Big Horn Creeks, Mitchell River, Davidson River, East Prong of the Roaring Gap, Davidson, Tuck, Watauga, Jacob's Fork, and Nantahala Rivers, to name a few.
How it Works
Shoot me an email or call and introduce yourself! If it seems that we would enjoy each other's company for a day we'll make a plan. If I'm unable to take you personally I will happily set you up with an outfitter that I trust to give you a great experience.
- 1/2 Day Wade 1-2 anglers $275.
- Full Day Wade 1 angler – $350.
- Full Day Wade 2 anglers – $425.
Half day trips include snacks and beverages. Full day trips include sandwiches, chips, and beverages. Let me know of any dietary restrictions before booking your trip.
Is there a deposit required?
We require a 50% non-refundable deposit to book a guide trip, just like every other outfitter in the region. The full value is non refundable within 7 days of the guide trip. We go fishing rain or shine, unless we deem weather or river conditions as unsafe. In the event of dangerous conditions, the trip will be rescheduled on a future date.
